8 Days Climb Kilimanjaro -Lemosho Route

Description

Day 1: Arrival

  • Arrive in Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO).
  • Transfer to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha.
  • Briefing with your guide and final gear check.

Day 2: Lemosho Gate (2,385m) to Big Tree Camp (2,780m)

  • Transfer to Londorossi Gate for registration.
  • Begin the trek through lush rainforest.
  • Trekking time: 4-5 hours.

Day 3: Big Tree Camp (2,780m) to Shira 1 Camp (3,505m)

  • Gradually ascend through the rainforest.
  • Enter the heath and moorland zone.
  • Trekking time: 5-6 hours.

Day 4: Shira 1 Camp (3,505m) to Shira 2 Camp (3,810m)

  • Trek across the Shira Plateau.
  • Gain altitude and start to feel the effects of altitude.
  • Trekking time: 4-5 hours.

Day 5: Shira 2 Camp (3,810m) to Barranco Camp (3,960m) via Lava Tower (4,630m)

  • Ascend to the Lava Tower for acclimatization.
  • Descend to Barranco Valley for overnight.
  • Trekking time: 6-8 hours.

Day 6: Barranco Camp (3,960m) to Karanga Camp (3,995m)

  • Conquer the Barranco Wall.
  • Traverse alpine desert terrain.
  • Trekking time: 4-5 hours.

Day 7: Karanga Camp (3,995m) to Barafu Camp (4,673m)

  • Ascend to Barafu Camp, the base camp for the summit attempt.
  • Rest and prepare for the summit push.
  • Trekking time: 3-4 hours.

Day 8: Summit Attempt – Barafu Camp (4,673m) to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) and descent to Mweka Camp (3,100m)

  • Start the summit push around midnight.
  • Reach Stella Point (5,739m) at the rim of the crater.
  • Continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa.
  • Descend back to Barafu Camp for a short rest.
  • Continue descending to Mweka Camp for the night.
  • Trekking time: 11-15 hours.

Day 9: Mweka Camp (3,100m) to Mweka Gate (1,640m)

  • Descend through the rainforest.
  • Arrive at Mweka Gate, receive summit certificates, and say goodbye to your crew.
  • Transfer back to your hotel for a well-deserved celebration and rest.
